Sadie Catherine--7 lbs. 1 oz.

Lolly started having contractions at 3:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon--29 arduous hours later, we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Sadie Catherine was born at 8:06 p.m. To our surprise, she weighed in at 7 lbs. 1 ounce and "stands" at a relatively tall 19 1/4 inches.

During delivery, it was discovered that Lolly was running a fever of about 100 plus degrees and that little Sadie may have an infection. Because of the fever and the fact that the delivery wasn't progressing fast enough, the nurse informed Lolly that she might have to have a C-section. The nurse gave Lolly about an hour to get to where she needed to be or she would likely have to have the C-section. Lucky for us, everything worked out. The birth was miraculous.
Unfortunately, because of the potential for infection, the doctor decided that Sadie needed an IV to receive antibiotics. Lolly got to hold Sadie for a couple of minutes, and then I followed Sadie up to the IMC (intermediate care) where she went for her IV. After poking Sadie in both hands and feet several times, the nurses ultimately had to place the IV in Sadie's head. The next day the IV came out and had to be placed in Sadie's arm, which turned blue from the tape cutting off her circulation. After all of that drama and more, we were able to take Sadie home Sunday night at 11:00 p.m. Although the whole experience was pretty crazy, we couldn't have asked for anything better. We have a beautiful healthy baby girl and a healthy mommy.
