Home Grown
I know it seems odd to those of you who have piles of snow in your backyard right now, but we are enjoying some fresh fruits and veggies from our garden. My mom always had a garden growing up, but I guess it just really makes me feel grown up to have one of my own. We've been peeling oranges, juicing lemons for lemonade, and we've had fresh lettuce and cilantro from our garden for dinner, too. Last night I made Cilantro Pesto Chicken on the grill. Mmm. . .

Back to Reality
We're finally settling back to normal after our trip. We had a great vacation, but at the same time it is nice to be back. Sadie did not miss us one bit, she actually started calling my mom "mom," she would snuggle with my dad every night, and she never once asked for us. We were also glad to be able to spend the time with Chris' parents, because they'll be busy the next three years serving as a mission president.
Kauai was very beautiful and a totally different experience from Oahu. We spent the week snorkeling, swimming, hiking, biking, going on a helicopter ride, lounging on the beach, and enjoying the time to just relax.

Bittersweet
So, on our last anniversary I gave Chris a graphic t with some sort of Hawaiian image on it, and he opened it up and said, "Are you trying to tell me something?" Since we got married I have told Chris that I wanted to go to Hawaii for our 5th anniversary, and am proud to say that that persistence has paid off, because we are going to Hawaii tomorrow. It will be about 6 months early, but considering this baby is due July 8th and our anniversary is July 1st, I think this is about as good as it is going to get. And to make it better, we are going with Chris' parents AND without Sadie. My parents agreed to come down here and get out of the snow and watch Sadie if we went to Utah for Christmas. Sounds like a good deal to me.
At least I thought that it was a good thing, but the closer we get to going the more I find cute little things that I am going to miss about Sadie and I haven't posted and pictures of her lately, so here are some random ones.
This is what I woke up to yesterday morning. She has been much better lately about not undressing her self at night, but I guess she did this morning. The funny thing is she is wearing these pajamas that snap the top and the bottom together, so although she was able to get one arm and both legs free, she couldn't get them all of the way off.
Sadie likes to play with her daddy's laptop whenever she finds it within reach. She knows exactly how to turn it on and off. Luckily the thing is so old, we are surprised that it still runs.

It's a good thing that I don't have a dirty mouth. . .
Because it seems like Sadie repeats everything I say these days. It's really fun to have her talking so much and learning new words constantly, but she picks up even the little things. My favorite, is lately she's been saying, "oy" a lot lately. I guess I say it every time I get her out of her car seat, so now she says it anytime I pick her up. She also has learned the word 'naughty' and the accompanying hand gesture and loves to tell me and random children that we see at stores that they are being naughty. It's funny and hard not to encourage it.
It seems like once anyone finds out that I'm pregnant they ask how I am feeling. Up until this point I've been able to say that I'm fine (I don't seem to get morning sickness like many pregnant women) and maybe because I need to have a little bit more compassion for women than do, I got a mild flu this weekend. The reason I think that it was the flu and not some really late morning sickness (besides the fact that I am past the point that most women get morning sickness) is because Chris' brother Josh was visiting and he got sick, too. I hope it wasn't anything I cooked either, but I was sick too long for it to be food poisoning.
So, I've gotten the point. I really don't think I could get excited about being pregnant again if it meant that I would be throwing up and nauseous for weeks every time I got pregnant. It is a good thing that there are better mothers out there who are willing to go through morning sickness over and over again (like my mom!)
P.S. Josh, I hope you're feeling better now, too!
