Busy Week

Life in the Olson household has been a little bit busier than usual the last week and a half. The busyness began last Sunday night when Chris' grandpa died, promptly followed by Sadie's birthday on Monday. Then on Wednesday I took two finals, and Chris' parents, two sisters, and three nieces came into town and stayed with us. Friday was the viewing, Saturday was the funeral, and things have just been fun/crazy having 7 extra bodies in our house. We had a good week visiting with family, it is too bad that it takes a funeral to get us together sometimes.

Chris and I are both extremely grateful to be here in Arizona and to have had the opportunity to get to know both Grandma and Grandpa Olson. Grandpa led an incredible life and was in great health until just a few months ago. We will miss the great conversations and his teasing.

Olson, Boyd E. 89, longtime Mesa resident, died on February 8, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Catherine, his four children, 17 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was an Air Force veteran of WWII, a graduate of Brigham Young University, Harvard Business School, and holds a PhD from Oregon State University. He is the former Scientific and Technical Director of the U.S. Oceanographic Office. There will be a viewing Friday, February 13th, 6-8 PM at Bunker's University Chapel, 3529 East University Drive, Mesa. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 14th, 11:00 AM at the Cooley Park Ward, 3345 East McLellan Rd., Mesa.
