For those of you who have been to our house, you are probably aware that we are project people. More so me than Chris, but that is mainly because he has that silly job thing that gets in the way of all the fun. I am probably too project minded, because once I start one I have a hard time
stopping to do things like cooking or cleaning much. Well, anyway I promised that I would share some pictures of my latest project with my Moms (both mine and Chris') so here they are:

This is my beautiful table that my Grandfather
Mackey made for me as a wedding gift. I hope he doesn't mind the alterations that we made to it (he died just before Chris and I got engaged.) This projects dates back all of the way to last July when Chris and I each took a turn staining it (yes we each did it a
separate time.) The final result was mediocre at best, we didn't even take a picture of it, but decided to live with it rather than attempt a 3rd
staining.
I found this picture from right after we moved into our house, you can get the basic idea of what the table looked like: darker brown. Looking at this picture reminds me of another project: painting most of our house 'barely beige.'
Here is the final product. Wow, it looks like I need to dust the bottom! The inspiration for the black rustic look came not long after we got our slightly distressed looking entertainment center. I really like the way that it turned out (not just because the chairs match now,) I don't know how well you can tell from the picture but it is distressed with the previous stain shining through at spots and looks really cool and was so easy to do. Thanks to my Moms for all of their advice and encouragement!
